Worth Warrior

The Worth Warrior app is designed to help young people manage negative body image, low self-worth, and related eating difficulties or disorders.

Two screenshots from the Worth Warrior app. The first shows the self-monitoring activities available, including where you can save your motivations to change, track activities you’ve tried, journal, and view daily motivators. The second screenshot shows the activities that help you make changes – you can change the: story, action, emotion, and way you view your body.

What can you do in the Worth Warrior app?

The app is based around the idea that we can learn to challenge our thoughts and change the things we do in response, which, in turn, can change how we feel too. For example, there’s an activity to help you think about the way you speak to yourself, identify whether you’re falling into common, unhelpful ways of thinking, and come up with a positive response. You can also set goals to change actions related to how you treat your body (including eating), and challenge the way you view your body by considering the difference between facts and fiction. There are also plenty of ideas for managing difficult emotions.

The app also has information about eating disorders and specific topics like social media, perfectionism, and eating over special occasions.

In the ‘keeping safe’ section, you can view any ‘golden’ thoughts you‘ve saved from activities, as well as building a safety net with things you can to do to help yourself when things are difficult, as well as people you can contact.

Finally, there are tools you can use to check in with yourself. Some are about reming yourself of why you want to work on your body image, self-worth, and/or eating or giving you a motivation boost, while others help you keep track of which activities you find most helpful, or give you a journal space to safely express yourself.
