Manatee
The Manatee app helps young people and their families at the same time, with content and support for parents and carers as well as young people.

What can you do in the Manatee app?
When you sign up to the app, you select whether you’re a young person or a caregiver. You can use both accounts on the same phone or tablet, so it doesn’t matter if you don’t have your own devices.
If you’re a young person
Young people can journal in the app – there are prompts if you’re not sure where to start. You can choose to share your journal entry with your parent or carer if you want to, but otherwise it’s private, unless you share something concerning. The app explains this in more detail.
You can also get self-care ideas and tips, and interact with a chatbot that uses CBT techniques and mindfulness. You can’t type to the chatbot – you just choose from a range of answers.
You can also track the goals your parent or carer has set for you. Once you complete a goal, you can share your thoughts with your parent or carer, then log whether the goal was helpful and how it made you feel. Onve your parent or carer has approved that you’ve completed a goal, you earn points. When you have enough points, you can exchange them for the rewards your parent or carer has set up.
If you’re an adult parent or carer
Adults can access parenting help with courses on all sorts, like mastering conflict, learning about therapy, and helping young people experiencing anxiety. These courses come with goals for the parent or carer.
Adults can set goals for the young person, like practising breathing exercises, or spending 20 minutes hanging out with their family. They also control the rewards available for the young person, like buying a new game or having an extra hour of play time. When the young person tells the adult they’ve completed a goal, the app prompts the adult to compliment them.
Adults can see how the young person is engaging with the app, including how many times they’ve journalled or checked in with the chatbot, as well as their points, rewards, and self-care activities.
